Counselling
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and having the right space to talk can make a meaningful difference. FunctionAbility provides counselling for children, young people and adults, offering a supportive and non-judgemental space to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
Our approach is person-centred and neuro-affirming, recognising that everyone experiences and communicates emotions differently. Sessions are tailored to the individual, with a focus on what matters to them and what they would like support with.
Whether you're experiencing a particular difficulty, navigating a period of change or simply feel that something isn't quite right, you don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
Meet Becky Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, MNCPS
Becky is an accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor who provides a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space for clients to explore whatever may be affecting their wellbeing.
Working from a pluralistic approach, Becky recognises that different people benefit from different ways of working. Rather than following one fixed therapeutic model, sessions are shaped around the individual, their experiences, preferences and what they hope to gain from counselling.
Becky has experience supporting people with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, bereavement, relationships, self-esteem, life changes and neurodiversity.

What To Expect
Starting counselling can feel unfamiliar, particularly if you haven’t experienced it before. Your first session is an opportunity to meet Becky, talk about what has brought you to counselling and begin exploring what you would like to gain from your sessions.
Counselling is collaborative and there is no expectation to share anything before you feel ready. Sessions are shaped around you, with the approach adapted to your individual needs, preferences and goals.
As counselling progresses, sessions may provide space to:
Explore thoughts, feelings and experiences
Develop a greater understanding of yourself and your needs
Recognise patterns that may be affecting your wellbeing
Explore different ways of managing difficulties
Develop strategies that feel meaningful and achievable
Work towards goals that are important to you
There is no one-size-fits-all approach. The focus and pace of counselling can develop over time as your needs and priorities change.
